Festa Junina- Junine Party

Finally it's June! The most waited month in Brazil 'cause in this month happens the most expected party of all the country (It's not carnaval, that happens only in some parts of the country and not everyone likes it). It's the Junine Party , known like St. John 's party too. It's a big church party comemorated in all the country to St. John, simulating a marriage in the countryside, I mean, simulating our reality by metropolitan's eyes ( what's completely diferent of the true). Well, what really matter is that this party is very important and shows brazilian's
countrified real culture ( almost 80% of the population) , if you want to
know how we live and think, visit a party in the northeast of Brazil or in
the countryside of the states São Paulo, Minas, Goias, Paraná etc...
The field is decorated with colorful flags ( St. Johns flags), bars/small tents, a
empty space in the middle and a lot of tables around to the people eat and sit
to see the dances and apreciate the bonfire that the people dance around it.
The guests or the students (if the party is in a school) dress hick's costumes
, it's a countrifield marriage, to dance Quadrilha, the dance simulating a marriage
in the poor backwoods of the northeast . The party itself is called Arraial, or
Arraiá as the hick accent says. I don't know where those habits are from, but I
like them a lot.
Before I forget it, the party is called Junine 'cause it can happen in any day of
the month of June.
My family will do a party in our farm and after that I'll put some photos of it
made by me.
 Some important points about it:
  • Every school have it's own Junine Party.
  • The countryside culture is almost the of the northeast one, so a party created
there can be easily recognized here too, or even confused with one there and here.
The same saints, the same food, the same habits, the same music only the
amount of money is diferent between those two regions.
  • Corn, Nuts, Cuzcuz, Warm Wine, Quentão are typical foods of this party.
  • All the country celebrate it.
  • At this time of the year, every brazilian market have it's own part
dedicated to sell the typical foods as corn, nuts, paçoca, pé de moleque, fubá,
sagú, pinga etc...
Here some photos that I found at Google Images. ( Search you too: Festa Junina)
